AFC Telford United and Worcester City will go back to the New Bucks Head for an FA Trophy first round replay on Tuesday night after a goalless draw.

The Bucks will feel aggrieved a goal wasn't given from Neill Byrne's header, which seemed to cross the line, in the first-half.

Goalkeepers Ryan Young and Jose Veiga each bailed their side out over the course of the 90 minutes, with the two sides gripped in deadlock at full-time.

Young was called into action as early as the fifth minute, denying ex-Telford winger Steve Leslie after the ball had fortitiously bounced into his path off Robbie Booth from Daniel Nti's pass.

It was relatively straightforward for Young to handle Aaron Williams in the 15th minute, while Mike Grogan blazed an effort high and wide on 18.

On 21 minutes, Matthew McGinn survived a hand-ball shout to pass the ball into Adam Farrell, whose deceiving lay off put Andy Owens through, but Veiga made the save.

Moments later, Byrne met McGinn's corner with a header that looked to have crossed the line, before Veiga threw the ball back out.

George Williams cleared the danger again for Worcester on 25 with the ball drifting into the net from Farrell, as a ruck of bodies threw themselves at it.

Action switched to the other end two minutes later, with Young acting fast to beat Aaron Williams to a long ball over the top and lift the ball to safety.

The goalkeeper again saved Telford's bacon with a save from Richard Taundry's header on 28, while Byrne booted the ball in touch just as it was running through to a ready-and-waiting Ethan Moore.

Booth tried his luck from distance in the 36th minute only for his effort to sail over, before Moore picked up the game's first booking of the game.

He went through Byrne needlessly before the half finished on an equally sour note with Owens on the floor, Nti ticked off for the tackle but not punished, despite the protests of the Telford players.

Byrne and Charlie Barnett remonstrated with the linesman, alleging Nti had kicked out, but referee Simon Barrow decided not to take action.

Farrell, perhaps, should have done better with an inviting cross from Tony Gray in Telford's response three minutes into the second-half, but could only guide the ball straight into the hands of Veiga.

Moore should also have capitalised on his chance two minutes later, his shot was always rising as he blazed over unmarked inside the box.

Nti's shot on the turn also missed the woodwork on 53 minutes, as both teams traded chances in search of a breakthrough.

That quest spurred Telford manager Liam Watson into a triple change on the hour. On came Sean Clancy, Chris Lever and Mike Phenix for Robbie Booth, Adam Farrell and Andy Owens.

It was Veiga to the rescue for Worcester in the 62nd minute, palming away at point-blank range from Gray after another ball over from McGinn left the striker one-on-one.

It sparked frantic end-to-action as Gray tried to succeed where he had failed seconds before, this time from outside of the area but Veiga was again equal to it, again pushing his effort wide.

Young had to do likewise to keep a Leslie effort out in quick succession, with the Telford No 1 tipping over a curler from substitute Danny Glover five minutes later.

There would have been nothing the shot-stopper could do if Ellis Deeney's header had dropped into the net and not wide of the post, from Leslie's corner of the night, with 20 minutes to go.

Gray went for goal on 72 after getting himself into a promising position, making space to shoot from outside of the box, but his drive looped over the bar.

That was a precursor to a frantic finale where Worcester could have nicked a late winner, Young keeping Telford in the competition with a minute to go.

It was again Leslie with the shot that the goalkeeper had to tip over the bar at full stretch with a minute to go.

Substitute Dominic Dell, a debutant for the hosts, also tried his luck with a surging run and fierce shot in stoppage time, which fizzed wide of the post.
