Liam Watson set to face AFC Telford old-boy Alex Meehan
AFC Telford United manager Liam Watson knew Alex Meechan was never going to stay at New Bucks Head in the summer as the two prepare to pit their wits against each other this weekend.
Watson takes his side to face Barrow at Holker Street on Saturday in the Skrill Conference North, with Meechan acting as caretaker boss for the Bluebirds.
He was assistant to John Psaras before Watson arrived at Telford in May and departed the Bucks shortly after to, initially, become No.2 to Dave Bayliss up north.
Watson never got the chance to discuss a future in Shropshire with the 33-year-old back then, as he left the club for Barrow a week after he was appointed.
The Telford chief said: "I never really had any dealings with Alex, as everyone had pretty much left the club by the time I came. I then issued an open invitation for pre-season training.
"I saw one or two of his tweets about him joining Barrow, at the time, and he had to do what was right for him. There was never going to be a scenario where he stayed, really."
