Simon Grand happy with Bucks home form as AFC Telford motor past Vauxhall
Captain Simon Grand has hailed AFC?Telford's burgeoning home record after they notched their third consecutive victory at the New Bucks Head last night against Vauxhall Motors.
The 1-0 win, which moved the Bucks to within four points of the Skrill North summit, was also their fifth in front of their own fans in eight league games.
They are also now unbeaten in their last five home league games and Grand said: "It is important, especially in this league.
"With such fantastic surroundings here and a good ground, teams are going to come here and it's a comfortable place for them to play.
"So it is important that we make it hard work for them and we make sure we pick up results here.
"I think at times we will find it easier playing away because teams will have to come out and play against us rather than sit back.
"But last night we pressed them high up the pitch, worked them hard, won the ball high and that is pretty much how the winning goal came about."
Striker Adam Farrell scored the only goal of the game after just seven minutes to push Liam Watson's team up a place into sixth.
And while Grand is not paying too much attention to the league table just yet, with only 15 games played, he is convinced that if they can reproduce the level of their most recent performances, the Bucks will be in the mix come the business end of the season.
He said: "You do have a little look at the table but we just want to keep our run going and keep picking up points, getting wins and draws, keeping clean sheets and getting goals.
"I think it's a bit too early to start looking at league places and things like that, but if we carry on the way we are we will end up there.
"At the end of the day we know that if we go out and do our jobs right we'll match or better anyone in this league."
