Liam Watson is ready for clash with old-boys

AFC Telford boss Liam Watson is wary of two familiar foes ahead of tonight's Skrill North home clash with Vauxhall Motors.

The Motormen's visit to the New Bucks Head will see the return of former Telford defender Carl Macauley – now Vauxhall boss – as well as striker Steven Tames, a player Watson signed for his former club Southport last year before departing Haig Avenue this summer.

Watson has admiration for both, but with his team sitting just outside the play-off places, there will be no room for sentiment as the Bucks hunt a second win in four days following Saturday's 3-1 victory over Stalybridge Celtic.

He said: I've played with Carl Macauley at Witton and he's a good lad who's worked hard and developed good young players who seem to like playing for him.

"I have watched Vauxhall a few times this season and I have been impressed with them."

Macauley is in his second stint with Vauxhall having been re-appointed in November 2011 after previously resigning due to work commitments.

And Watson believes the job he has done at the club over those spells proves his ability in the dugout.

"He should really be managing a bigger club than Vauxhall," said Watson.
