AFC Telford hopeful of announcing profit
AFC Telford United are confident they will announce a trading profit for the year at their Annual General Meeting on November 7.
The Supporters Trust AGM takes place in the Learning Centre that night and the club's board of directors are confident they will have good financial news for fans.
The Bucks have dropped into the Conference North from the Premier for this season but their long-term future is promising, managing director Lee Carter revealed.
He said: "In the face of some tough economic conditions and a relegation, that is quite an achievement for us. There are significant running costs in running a football club, full stop.
"We don't do debt or bank overdrafts but we have thousands of people who help keep the football club on the road. We have 19 different lines of revenue and not all are football related, that just shows how we interact with our community."
The club set a 10-year target of being in the Conference Premier when they began life and, with promotion this season, could do exactly that.
They also have two years of previous experience at the level and Carter still believes operating in non-league's top flight is sustainable.
He said: "We set ourselves a target of getting to the Conference Premier in 10 years, we did it in seven. Perhaps we were ahead of where we needed to be.
"We still believe that, with our income streams, we can sustain a mid-table side in the division above. Braintree and Nuneaton are doing well in the league above with limited budgets.
"That should act as an inspiration to us."
