Liam Watson named as new AFC Telford manager
Liam Watson has become the fourth permanent manager in AFC Telford's nine-year history.
The former Southport boss was unveiled as the new Bucks manager at a press conference last night.
The new boss has begun building the playing squad for next season by bringing in winger Sean Clancy and retaining the services of defender Dan Preston.
Watson announced the capture of Clancy, who played for the Sangrounders last season, while Preston 's contract has been extended for another campaign.
And the new Bucks chief is aiming to make several further additions to the squad in the coming weeks.
Watson, who will be assisted by Dominic Morley, believes Clancy, 25, will add creativity.
He said: "He has an awful lot of flair. He has been through this league and got up with Fleetwood.
"At the time he was probbaly one of the most sought-after players in the north west, but then lost his way a little bit.
"But as long as they have got the right hunger and desire, that is what we tend to look for. I think the fans will love him."
Regarding Preston 's retention he added: "I took the option up on Dan. I like him and I think with a good experienced centre-half alongside him, he could really fulfill his potential."
Goalkeeper Ryan Young was re-signed last month but several players are expected to be released.
Watson said he is open to retaining some of last season's players but added: "Whoever turns up for pre-season with the right attitude, showing they want to be here, we will consider."
