AFC Telford set to slash ticket prices after drop

Speaking at a fans forum on Saturday, club chairman Lee Carter announced that there would be an average reduction on season tickets of 30 percent.

He added that gate admission for next season will be reduced by 10 per cent.

Further details of the prices, which are set to be officially announced today, will be the latest in a series of reductions planned by the Bucks as part of its new pledge to supporters which was unveiled last week.

The club outlined plans to provide free season tickets to supporters under eight years old, as well as stating plans to set admission prices for younger people that 'recognise their lower income levels'.

Ticket prices for next season were just one of several topics up for discussion at the New Bucks Head prior to Telford's home clash with Dartford on Saturday, which they lost 2-0.

Other topics included the team's drop in form, which has led to relegation from the Blue Square Bet Premier, the playing surface, which received praise from fans, player recruitment and the search for a permanent manager.

The club is remaining tight-lipped regarding the stage they are at in the process or the individuals in the frame for the manager's job.

Carter though did confirm that former Market Drayton manager Jimmy Mullen was not in the running.

Mullen, 60, had declared his interest in the post just a day after his departure from Greenfields which was announced on Thursday.

But he did addthat he believed the Bucks may already be closing in on a new appointment.

Mullen spent a brief spell in charge of the club's predecessor Telford United 10 years ago but Carter said: "It's not going to be Jimmy Mullen.

"We don't look back."

Carter added that no deal has yet been done with anyone regarding the position, but that it was the club's intention to have next season's playing squad in place early.

Mullen quit as Drayton manager last week after steering the club to safety in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South.
