AFC Telford to keep faith with makeshift defence

AFC Telford United manager John Psaras is set to keep faith with the makeshift back four which worked so well against Forest Green for the home clash with Dartford.

The Bucks chief had to field three players – Christian Smith, Will Salmon and striker Marco Adaggio – out of position in Easter Monday's trip to the New Lawn.

That was because of injuries to left-back Ryan Valentine and centre-back Simon Ford.

But he was delighted by the result as the back four, which also included Michael Briscoe, held firm against several spells of intense pressure to help earn Telford to a 0-0 draw.

Psaras's defensive options should be increased this weekend with Ford expected to be fit after shaking off a hamstring injury.

But the boss admitted he is reluctant to make changes tomorrow following their last display.

He said: "You have got a back four that kept a clean sheet against a powerful front line.

"I think I would find it very difficult to change a back four that has done its job."
