Lee Carter vows AFC Telford will bounce back
AFC Telford chairman Lee Carter has spoken of his 'anger and frustration' at the club's relegation from the Blue Square Premier.
But he has vowed the Bucks will come back stronger from the setback, as the club outlined a new pledge to supporters to help kick-start the fightback.
Telford saw relegation confirmed on Saturday following their 3-0 home defeat to Nuneaton.
The drop came with four games of a hugely disappointing season still left to play and the result extended the team's winless which now stands at 29 league matches.
The Bucks have also seen four different people at the managerial helm in a tumultuous 39 days in February and March .
It which saw the departures of Andy Sinton followed by interim manager Mark Cooper and caretaker boss Graham Hyde.
A difficult financial climate off the field has been compounded by the team's on-field woes with the club revealing losses – for the first time in their history – of £35,000 over the previous year in November.
This season's hardships have come after an immensely successful run of three promotions in seven seasons followed by survival in the Blue Square Bet Premier last term.
Carter said: "I'm as angry and as frustrated as the next man. I'm also as disappointed and demoralised, but the fightback starts today.
"The board is made up of good, good people who bring enormous skill and dedication to the club.
"We've been fighting on two fronts for months – an awful economic climate compounded by awful on field performances.
"It would be easy to give up but that is not what people want and it is not what the board intend to do.
"We've suffered a huge dent to our collective pride and, as proud people, it hurts and we are determined to bounce back stronger."
The club's pledge to fans included a vow to offer free season tickets to supporters under eight-years-old and a commitment to set admission prices for younger people that will reflect their lower income levels.
Meanwhile, a fans' forum scheduled for tomorrow night, will now take place at the New Bucks Head on Saturday at 12pm, prior to the Dartford game.
