John Psaras is looking to give AFC Telford youth a chance

AFC Telford caretaker boss John Psaras is determined to lay down a youthful blueprint.

He has already handed midfielder James O'Neil his debut in the recent 2-1 defeat at Macclesfield, while fellow academy youngsters Jake Bennett and Tom Bradley were included on the bench at Lincoln City last weekend.

Bucks chairman Lee Carter believes former managers Andy Sinton and Mark Cooper only paid lip service to the club's youth scheme.

But Psaras is laying down foundations for the future when demotion to the Blue Square Bet North will necessitate a reduced budget.

"I've brought the lads in to give them a taste of first-team football," said Psaras.

"It's the way the club wants to go. We need to see these lads and involve them in the first team both on matchday and in training."

The army of Bucks fans who turned out to clear the New Bucks Head pitch of snow and ice gave today's potentially decisive clash with Nuneaton Town the best chance of going ahead.

Anything but victory against the familiar Warwickshire foes would confirm relegation from the Blue Square Bet Premier.

Former Telford men Simon Forsdick, Gavin Cowan and Andy Brown were expected to feature.
