John Psaras puts his name in frame for AFC Telford full-time post
AFC Telford caretaker boss John Psaras today said he hopes he has done enough to keep himself in the running for the permanent post at the New Bucks Head.
Despite failing to secure victory in his four games since taking the reins following the departure of Graham Hyde, Psaras has won praise for lifting battered morale.
Under his supervision, only a last-minute goal denied the Bucks a creditable point at promotion-seeking Macclesfield and his side were 15 minutes away from ending a record-breaking winless run at Lincoln City last Saturday before a 2-1 lead vanished as they went down 3-2.
Psaras has stressed he will wait until the final ball is kicked before he makes his case for retaining the job.
"I said I would try and bring a bit of spirit to the team and I feel I have done that," said Psaras. "I've tried to stabilise the club at a difficult time.
"We have been in games and the boys are enjoying playing under me. They are hurting because they are losing but they have shown me commitment and work-rate. I feel I have done my job there.
"And I'm enjoying the challenge of management myself. But I will speak to the club at the end of the season."
A strong short-list of candidates has emerged to take the helm at the Blue Square Bet Premier's basement club.
It is understood ex-Hyde United boss Gary Lowe, Vauxhall Motors' Carl Macauley, Worcester City's Carl Heeley and one-time Altrincham manager Graham Heathcote could be among the field.
