Nuneaton's Kevin Wilkin flattered by Telford link
Nuneaton Town manager Kevin Wilkin today admitted he is flattered to be linked with the AFC Telford job.
Wilkin joins a growing list of names being linked with the managerial post at the New Bucks Head.
Former Gateshead manager Ian Bogie has already declared an interest in the job, as have former Aston Villa stars Shaun Teale and Peter Withe.
John Psaras has been put in charge until the end of the season, after Graham Hyde quit after two games as interim manager.
However, Wilkin refused to be drawn on whether he is a contender for the post on a permanent basis.
He said: "I have not spoken to anyone at Telford but it's flattering to be linked to a job like that.
"They are a club that has great support and a fantastic set-up that is stable and moving in the right direction.
"I appreciate they are scrapping to stay in the league like us. They are a part-time club and it's a very difficult battle to be in.
"If they were interested in me would I speak to them? I don't know. It's certainly flattering to be mentioned in such circles.
"What I would say is that my focus is totally on Nuneaton.
"We've got a big job on our hands and I believe we can see it through."
The 45-year old, who has been in charge at the Warwickshire club since 2006, has masterminded three promotions during his tenure there.
He has also overseen two wins from four games against Telford in league and cup this season and has considerable experience of running a part-time club.
But Bucks chairman Lee Carter has said the club will not rush into appointing a permanent manager following the shock resignation of Hyde on Sunday. He added that the club's primary focus is to win its relegation battle.
He has still not given up hope that the Bucks can retain their Blue Square Premier status, despite currently being bottom of the league and seven points adrift of safety.
Psaras last night took his first training session since being placed in charge. He is being assisted by former Bucks striker Alex Meechan, who has left Colwyn Bay, as well as senior players Phil Trainer and Ryan Young.
