AFC Telford manager hails his Hereford heroes
AFC Telford United manager Andy Sinton has hailed his 'terrific' players after they snatched an injury-time leveller at Hereford United.
The Bucks overcame a second-minute setback, when Bulls midfielder Marley Watkins put the hosts in front, to grab a share of the spoils thanks to Gerard Kinsella's header.
Sinton's side also had to cope with a late change to their plans when winger Luke Hubbins was ruled out of the trip to Edgar Street with his wife about to give birth.
The draw still leaves Telford in the Blue Square Premier relegation zone, albeit now by just one point, having played a game more than the rest of the bottom six.
It also stretched the team's winless run in the league to 12 games. But, having endured some torrid results in recent weeks, Sinton said the point would give them a much-needed lift.
He said: "I thought we were terrific and it gives the lads something to cling on to and build on. We haven't become a bad side overnight.
"We might look it from time to time but those players haven't become bad players in the last six or seven weeks. They are so low on confidence.
"But we have worked hard. The commitment was there and no shortage of ability. I am delighted for the players. They have been on the floor for the last few weeks.
"They have been on the ropes, they have taken knock after knock. We have shot ourselves in the foot two minutes into the game again last night.
"But we probably passed the ball as well as we have for the last six or seven weeks and as the game went on I felt we would get a chance.
"And we got it on the back of a great ball by Steve Leslie."
Sinton is hopeful of bringing in both an attacker and defender in time for Saturday's trip to Braintree.
And the Bucks boss is convinced the club will still have defender Jordan Rose in their ranks after chairman Lee Carter confirmed a bid for the player had been rejected.
