Andy Sinton hoping for AFC Telford fitness booster

AFC Telford United manager Andy Sinton will be hoping to pass Luke Hubbins and Ryan Valentine fit for the Blue Square Premier trip to Dartford tomorrow night.

Sinton will be assessing his walking wounded and Hubbins, who won the penalty in Saturday's 1-0 win at home to Woking before going off ill at half-time, should be OK.

The Bucks winger did ask to go off at the break and was replaced by Steve Jones, himself a victim of the flu bug that swept through the squad last week.

But Sinton hopes a couple of days rest will help and Valentine could also be added to the squad, after five games out with a back injury.

The left-back was under consideration as a substitute on Saturday but was not risked in the end, with Nathan Rooney on the bench despite carrying a hamstring strain.

Final decisions will be made at tonight's training session who will travel for tomorrow night's game with Jake Reid, Chris Blackburn and Michael Briscoe all injured, while Kieron St Aimie is banned.

Sinton said: "It's been horrendous, we will have to see how Luke is after starting on Saturday, let's hope we don't lose him and James Spray played having been ill all last week, as has Steve Jones.

"Chris Blackburn and Michael Briscoe are still struggling with their injuries but Ryan Valentine might be a little bit closer tomorrow night, although maybe not in the starting line-up.

"He's missed a month and that's the danger we have, match fitness, Chris Sharp came on for an injection of pace but he's been out for seven weeks, so he probably couldn't start.

"We haven't got a reserve side so, even though people are fit, it doesn't mean they are fit to start games at the really tough level that the Blue Square Premier is."

Promoted Dartford are fifth in the league after Saturday's 2-0 win at Grimsby and are unbeaten in five games, but Telford themselves are ninth with 18 points after 13 games.

Sinton said: "Dartford have got a bit of a momentum but we will go there and try to win the game."
