AFC Telford bid to end poor away record at Luton
AFC Telford United?will be aiming to end an unenviable year-long winless run away from home in the Blue Square Bet Premier League when they travel to title favourites Luton Town tomorrow.
The Bucks last won on the road in the league on August 20 last season against York City thanks to substitute Craig Farrell's 87th-minute strike.
Since then they have played 22 further league games away from the New Bucks Head without a victory.
Bucks boss Andy Sinton admits it is a run they need to change but the statistic will not alter his approach for the visit to Kenilworth Road.
He said: "One day that will come to an end. It could come to an end at Luton. We go to every away game trying to win the game.
"It's something we need to arrest. Our preparation has got to be spot on but we certainly don't go away to get beat and we certainly don't go there to just shut up shop and get a point."
But he admitted he would happily take a repeat of his side's opportunistic victory at York, in which the hosts created most of the chances but were left empty-handed.
"I remember beating York away and it was a smash-and-grab, we hardly had a shot," he said. "I will take that three, four, five, six, ten times this season if we can go away and get it."
Sinton may be without both defender Chris Blackburn and striker Steve Jones again. Both missed last Saturday's 3-0 win against Braintree Town with a back injury and a bruised foot respectively and both remain doubtful for the Luton trip.
