FIRST half goals from James Spray and Kieron St Aimie and a Nathan Rooney penalty earned Telford their first win of the season at home to Braintree Town.

Telford could have been in front inside two minutes but Dan Preston's header came off the bar from Steve Leslie's corner.

Rooney then drew a strong save from Danny Naisbitt and the Braintree keeper did even better to deny Spray on two occasions.

But Town failed to clear the ball and at the third attempt the former Wolves forward opened the scoring from close range with 14 minutes gone.

St Aimie doubled their lead five minutes later when he slotted home Leslie's flick-on from Hubbins' right wing cross.

Adam Bailey-Dennis should have reduced the deficit four minutes after the break but he could only nod wide from Kenny Davis' free-kick and Michael Gash fired over from distance two minutes later.

But Ryan Peters' handball then allowed Rooney to seal the result from the penalty spot with eight minutes left.
