Adam Proudlock today called time on his AFC Telford United career after signing for Chester.
The 31-year-old former Wolves and Sheffield Wednesday forward has agreed to drop down a division to join the Blue Square North newcomers.
His future at the New Bucks Head had been in doubt since he rejected a revised incentive-based contract offer to remain at the New Bucks Head.
AFC Telford summer ins and outs
Boss Andy Sinton said this morning he had not been informed of the move, but added: "If he has signed for someone else we wish him all the very best. He's a great lad.
"From our point of view nothing really changes. I was looking at bringing in one, possibly two, strikers and we are speaking to four or five in that position."
Chester boss Neil Young is delighted to have wrapped up the frontman, who was with the Bucks for two seasons but spent much of last season's on the sidelines with a broken ankle.
Young said: "I have been looking to bring in a big, strong centre forward.
"Adam fits the bill and has a proven record at a higher level," said Young.
As he steps up his search for strikers, Sinton intends to speak to former Bucks hot-shot Kyle Perry in the coming days.
The former Lincoln striker, who was released by the Red Imps last month, returned for his second spell at New Bucks Head on loan during the second half of last season, making 19 appearances.
Sinton said: "We will speak in the next couple of days but we have other targets."
