AFC?Telford?United chairman Lee Carter admits he wants a more settled squad for next season as the Bucks begin preparations for a second season in the Blue Square Bet Premier League.

Andy Sinton's men end their first season back in the elite level of non-league with a long trip to Gateshead on Saturday, but Carter has already turned his thoughts towards next year.

He said: "There will be a lot of number-crunching going on and me and Andy have to have a look at certain things .

"We have had a very high turnover of players and that is not ideal for a club in our situation, so that is something we will be looking to address ahead of next season."

Carter knows the club need to keep all expenditure at a sustainable level and the chairman is looking for 'value for money' signings.

"We spent a lot of valuable pounds on a number of players over the course of the season," he added. "And some of them are no longer with us.

"There's no one individual or group to blame but it's important that we're more prudent with our actions next year.

"But we won't be compromising the quality of player just because of price, but let's face it, if you spend £300 on a player then you get £300 worth of player.

"We were also a bit ignorant of the rules, and the emergency loan system in this league at first so we have the advantage of knowing how all of that works this season.

"It is a learning process and as long as we keep growing with every season that goes by then we are moving in the right direction."
