New AFC Telford United striker Ryan Brooke believes the future is bright for Telford and hopes he can become a part of it.

The 21-year-old Oldham loanee made his debut in Tuesday night's friendly with Mansfield Town and impressed.

And Brooke, who has joined for an initial month, is desperate to be involved in the Bucks' crucial run-in of fixtures, despite being substituted in midweek with a head injury.

"I had a bit of a headache and felt a bit sick so as a precaution I went off," said Brooke.

"We played well though and I thought I linked up quite well with Kyle Perry. The rest of the lads were able to join in off that so it was very promising."

And Brooke insists he has the all-round game to force his way into Telford's starting eleven.

"I don't think Kyle loses a header," added Brooke. "And I enjoy not being the target man. At 6ft 1in I kind of get branded as the target man genre but alongside someone like Kyle I get to play more as a second striker."

The young striker, who had a spell at Telford's Blue Square Bet Premier rivals Barrow earlier in the campaign, admits he has been impressed with the set-up at the New Bucks Head.

"At Barrow it didn't really work how I wanted it to work," said Brooke. "The manager seemed quite set with him team and I think he just brought me in to make up the numbers.

"But there is a good bunch of lads here and the gaffer has been really good to me so hopefully I can get a few games, a few goals and a few wins.

"The break will have done us good and hopefully on Saturday we can get a good performance and show people that we should be higher up the league."
