Experienced forward Steve Jones looks set to miss AFC Telford United's big FA Trophy clash at Nuneaton Town tomorrow (2pm).

Former Crewe, Burnley and Motherwell man Jones, 35, has made a real impact at the New Bucks Head, scoring two goals since joining last month.

But he was forced off by a hamstring problem during Tuesday's 0-0 draw with York City and, though the injury is not thought to be serious, he could be rested.

"Steve only went off as a precaution and we're monitoring his progress," said manager Andy Sinton.

"It might be that we take a rain-check tomorrow because we have a lot of games coming up. He's an old pro and he put his hand up straight away when he felt it on Tuesday rather than try to carry on and make it worse.

"He saw the physios on Thursday evening and it doesn't look as if it's a major problem but we will be careful." Telford's trip to Nuneaton has been switched to a Sunday so that the host club can make use of stewards from Coventry City.

Extra security has been deemed necessary after ugly crowd scenes at the end of last season's Blue Square Bet North clash between the two sides at Liberty Way in January.

"There's a little bit of rivalry between the two sides but hopefully that doesn't overspill in any way as it did last January," added Sinton. "I'm expecting a tough game and we'll go there looking to build on what we did against York the other night."

The Telford boss is boosted tomorrow by the return of skipper Shane Killock and striker Chris Sharp from suspension.

Killock's place depends on the availability of Stuart Whitehead, whose wife Amy gave birth to their second child, a boy called Maxen.
