Newport County boss Anthony Hudson is hoping to give AFC Telford United a football education tomorrow –after welcoming skipper Gary Warren back from the World Student Games.

Warren, 27, travelled to Shenzhen in China with the Great Britain squad – having been eligible as a result of having just completed a Post Graduate Certificate of Education at the University of Bath.

The GB team reached the final, only to lose 2-0 to Japan, and Warren is now back in South Wales and hotly-tipped to go straight back into Hudson's starting line-up.

In his absence, the Exiles have had mixed fortunes – with one win and two draws in their opening four games.

"There are no regrets because we knew the consequences," said Hudson, the son of former Chelsea star Alan, and who left his coaching job at Spurs to succeed Aldershot-bound Dean Holdsworth at Newport.

"He got back on Wednesday and trained with us yesterday morning and that has given everyone a massive lift.

"He's a massive part of the club but our defence have done well lately so I don't know what I'm going to do tomorrow yet – it gives me a nice problem to deal with."

Meanwhile, Hudson has backed Telford to thrive in their first season at this level and has predicted a tough game for his side at the New Bucks Head.

The Exiles have only gone fully full-time this season so Hudson, who was recommended for the Exiles job by Spurs chief Harry Redknapp, is well qualified to comment on the challenge faced by the part-time Bucks.

"It is tough to compete with the big full-time sides," he said.

"Earlier in the season it might be a bit easier for the part-time teams but as you get towards Christmas and the end of the season, that's when the difference might show.

"We have had Telford watched, I know they have got a really good manager in Andy Sinton and I personally think they will do well," he added.

"They are a strong team with some good players so we will certainly be fully respectful of Telford.

"We know we have to be at our best and we will not be taking the game lightly."
