It was supposed to be the start of a brave new dawn for AFC Telford United but there was something very familiar about their frustrating start to life in the Blue Square Bet Premier.

The promotion-winning heroes of last season might even have challenged Alfreton for the title and avoided the play-offs altogether if only they had been a little more clinical in front of goal.

And those old concerns were in evidence again as they missed a hatful of chances that could, and should, have seen the Bucks open the new campaign with a morale-boosting win.

There must have been fears that it was not to be Telford's night when they were forced to change their starting line-up just minutes before kick-off.
