"Robbie's being assessed today," he said. "We're just hoping it's a minor injury and that he will be back training on Thursday.
"Bruno (Rodgers) had five stitches and definitely won't be involved tonight, we'll see after that.
"It will be a great test for us against Hereford," he added.
"We had a close game with them last pre-season and this will be a great benchmark of how far we've come in the last 12 months.
"They are a strong, powerful team with a lot of pace in there."
Winger Greg Mills had been expected to feature last night as he aims to prove his fitness and win a deal with the Bucks.
But the former Derby man had to pull out of the squad at the 11th hour due to illness and could now play some part tonight instead.
Meanwhile, Telford gave another outing to trialist John McKenna last night – despite his mother having passed away just a day earlier.
Midfielder McKenna, a free agent after leaving The New Saints, has spent the whole of pre-season with the Bucks.
"From the management team, his team-mates and the whole club, we just want to pass on our condolences to him and his family," said Read.
