Mills, 20, played a big part in helping Telford win promotion to the Blue Square Bet North but the famous 3-2 win over Guiseley looked to have been his last game for the club after stating his desire to play at League level.

But, with no offers forthcoming, the former Derby youngster has re-opened talks with the Bucks and will feature in a strong side that will face Evo-Stik League premier division side Rushall this evening.

"Greg will get the opportunity to get some minutes into his legs," assistant manager Darren Read confirmed.

"He's not on trial because we know everything about him already, it's about getting him fit and to the level we would want him.

"He's missed a lot of pre-season so he's a bit behind the others and tonight will give us another view of where he is.

"The gaffer's away at the minute but he has spoken with Greg and his agent on the phone," he added.

"Talks are ongoing and I am sure an offer will be put to Greg when the gaffer gets back – then it's up to him whether he takes it or not," he added.

Read took charge for Saturday's friendly at Aberystwyth, which the Bucks won 3-1 thanks to goals from Adam Proudlock, Jon Adams and Alex Meechan.

But he will take another strong side to Rushall before tomorrow night's home friendly with Hereford United.

Players scheduled to take part tonight include Craig Farrell, James Lawrie, Carl Rodgers, Jordan Johnson, Courtney Pitt, Robbie Williams and Adams, as well as Mills and trialist keeper Lee Evans.

"We're trying to distribute minutes to players equally so that everyone gets up to speed at the same time," Read added.
