Puzzled AFC Telford United boss Andy Sinton has rubbished claims that he has signed former Wrexham centre-back Shaun Pejic.

The 28-year-old ex-Wales under-21 international had been on trial with Telford's Blue Square Bet Premier rivals Barrow after a short spell in Canada.

Barrow claimed in a report on their official website that Pejic had opted to sign for the Bucks – but Sinton insists he has not even talked to the player.

"I haven't spoken to Shaun Pejic at all," said Sinton.

"I've got two missed calls from him on my phone but I haven't returned them yet.

"He hasn't been training with us and he's certainly not been in to play any games for us.

"I'm not saying we won't re-visit it, but as for signing him, I don't know where that's come from.

"If he's available then he's a decent player and we might get him in but I haven't had any contact so far."

Sinton was also surprised to hear that winger Greg Mills had gone on trial at Kidderminster, the former Telford loanee having previously declared that he would not sign for any other non-League side.

"Greg said to me and the press that he wouldn't consider another non-League club if he couldn't get a League club," said Sinton.

"I haven't had any contact with him for about 10 days. No disrespect to Greg, he's in my thoughts but I'm not going to be picking up the phone asking him what he's doing."

Meanwhile, the Telford chief declared himself satisfied with his side's efforts as they fell to a 1-0 defeat at home to a West Bromwich Albion XI in their latest friendly last night.
