AFC Telford United are close to announcing their first ever set of squad numbers.

The Bucks have played in shirts numbered one to 11 in every season since their formation in 2004.

But their promotion to the Blue Square Bet Premier at the end of last season means they must now use the squad numbering system used by every club in the top five divisions of English football.

And boss Andy Sinton confirmed: "We've already allocated the squad numbers to last year's boys.

"We asked them what number they wanted and went along with that where possible, whereas anyone who comes in now will just be allocated a number.

"Adam Proudlock has gone for No 31 – apparently that's a number he has kept throughout his career so he wanted that one again.

"Alex Meechan has got the No 9 shirt and Andy Brown is No 10. Most of the boys have got the numbers you would expect, really."

  • Former AFC Telford striker Kyle Perry is likely to be facing the Bucks next season – after completing a move from Tamworth to freshly-relegated Lincoln City.
