The Telford chief endured his fair share of play-off pain while in charge of Ryman League side Fleet and believes points won over a whole season should be the defining factor.
"I'm not a great fan of the play-offs, I'm still a great believer that if you finish 10 points above someone over 40 games or 42 games then you should go up," he said.
"But that's not the rules so you have to take what is on offer and if it is the play-offs - which I'm 99.9 per cent it's going to be - then we'll try and go up that way."
Alfreton can move within two points of sealing the league title tonight, though they have a tough task away at in-form Eastwood.
The Badgers, who have won 11 of their last 12 league games, would move into the play-off positions if they can continue that impressive run.
"Eastwood are going like a train, out of the last 12 games we're the only team to take a point out of them," said Sinton.
"I said at the time that was a good point because of the way they are going and the way that they play."
