Alfreton is the team for AFC Telford to beat

AFC Telford United boss Andy Sinton is refusing too get too carried away with Blue Square Bet North title talk despite watching his side storm to the top of the table with a comfortable 3-0 away win at Worcester City. The Bucks victory, secured thanks to skipper Shane Killock's brace and a Sean Newton goal, coupled with the leading three all failing to win, pushed Telford into pole position heading into the final 10 games. But Sinton still believes league favourites Alfreton Town are the team to beat with Nicky Law's side three points behind the Bucks with three games in hand. "Its probably still Alfreton's to lose with the games in hand but who knows," said Sinton. "That's why it's important why we get our jobs done."

"Its probably still Alfreton's to lose with the games in hand but who knows," said Sinton. "That's why it's important why we get our jobs done.
"We're top of the league and we'll take that but I'm not too concerned about it,
"If we had been third at this stage then I wouldn't have been losing sleep over it.
"The nicest time to hit top spot is the last game of the season with a minute to go.
"Someone once said to me don't waste time and don't waste energy on what you cant control so we won't. All we can do is to try and influence Telford United and what we do on the pitch.
"I'm not glued to my phone waiting for five minute updates when we're not playing and I don't plot points because you just don't know."
Meanwhile, the Bucks boss confirmed he was still looking to strengthen the squad ahead of the non-League transfer deadline at the end of the month.
But Sinton refused to confirm speculation in the West Midlands linking Telford with a move for Stafford defender Jermaine Johnson.
"We've got a seven day approach in for a player that we're allowed to speak to after Monday," said Sinton.
Centre back Mark Preece, who missed the game due to a freak injury after dropping an iron bar on his foot while doing DIY, is due to return to Mansfield Town after tomorrow's game with Eastwood Town.
