Battling AFC Telford United claimed a vital victory in the Lake District as they held on against Workington.

The Bucks went in front on 19 minutes, Sean Newton with a superb 25-yard free-kick after a needless handball by Workington defender Lee Andrews.

David Hewson twice went close with long range efforts after that but Telford held onto their lead up to half-time.

The nly clear opportunity of the second period fell to Carl Rodgers but he was denied by a good save from keeper Aaran Taylor.
