A Huws Gray Alliance fixture on Tuesday evening descended into a farce as a manager forced his remaining players to leave the pitch after four had been shown red cards.

After what looked like a late Guilsfield winner, two more red cards followed two in the first period, and a member of the Gresford Athletic management team, who had already been sent to the stands, ordered his players to leave the pitch four minutes from time.

Gresford had taken a first half lead, but the drama began to unfold when Tom Freeman was sent off for two bookings mid way through the half, and immediately after Welsh Premier League referee Huw Jones showed a red card to another visiting player for dissent.

The game, played at TNS' Park Hall ground, then saw Guilsfield pack the Gresford half for the second period, levelling the game through Andy Ford.

Jack Richards thought he had won it 20 minutes from time as his shot crashed off the underside of the bar, but the ref judged it hadn't crossed the lined.

But after intense pressure, the Guils finally got their winner as Stuart Rogers volleyed home with minutes remaining.

The visitors thought there was a foul in the build up, and before play re-started, two more were given their marching orders, reducing Gresford to seven men.

That was when a member of the coaching staff walked onto the pitch, and ordered his side to leave the field of play, to the dismay of Guilsfield players and supporters alike.

Both clubs will now have to give their version of events to the FA of Wales.

League secretary Chas Rowland said: "We have to wait until we have all the information before we decide what steps to take. It's far too early to say yet."
