John Psaras blames 'difference in opinion' over AFC Bridgnorth exit

John Psaras says a difference of opinion over the long-term direction of AFC Bridgnorth was the reason why he stepped down as manager.

The 51-year-old was appointed boss in the summer after former manager Mark Clyde returned to his native Northern Ireland.

Psaras is a well-known figure in the town having worked as owner and manager of fish and chip shop the High Town Grill for over two decades.

He made a bright start to life at Crown Meadow, guiding them into the top half of the West Midlands Premier Division.

But he has now decided to step aside following talks with chairman Stan Parkes.

"My vision wasn't in line with the vision of the club's hierarchy," Psaras said.

"But I want to thank them for everything they have done for me because I really enjoyed my time.

"It is with regret that I am stepping down. But it is in the best interests of both parties.

"Myself and my assistant Liam Evans have helped the club into a top-10 position in the league. Considering we only had four first team players when we arrived, we are very proud of that.

"We have added a couple of new players and promoted a few from the Under-21s. I feel that the club is in a position to progress further with a new manager in charge and I wish everybody involved all the best for the future."
