Market Drayton set to pitch in early
Market Drayton will have to get to grips with an unfamiliar surface if they are to make it three wins on the spin at Romulus tomorrow.
The Sutton Coldfield-based side, currently ninth in Evo-Stik First Division South, play their home games on an artificial pitch.
And Drayton boss Greg Clowes will be taking extra precautions to make sure none of his players are beaten by the bounce.
He said: "It's going to be difficult because I can remember going there with Stafford in pre-season and my lads couldn't get to grips for the first 20 minutes with how the ball bounces.
"So we've got to make sure that first 20/30 minutes we've got to adapt to the pitch because having a warm-up there will help you but not to the extent that we would like.
"So we'll be getting on that pitch as soon as possible on Saturday.
"We'll be getting there nice and early and probably get the players on the pitch half an hour before we normally do on a normal pitch."
Victory for the visitors, who have started the year with back-to-back wins against Kidsgrove and Sheffield FC, could see them move 13 points clear of the bottom two.
And Clowes believes his team, currently 15th in the division, only need another 10 points to seal their survival in the league for another season.
He said: "It's been a good new year for us. Back-to-back wins at home and I'm delighted at the minute. We've got 30 points, but we've still got to get another 10 points yet.
"It will be a tough game tomorrow against Romulus. They will think they've still got a chance of being in the play-offs and we're obviously trying to get out of where we are.
"I feel that once we get 40 points we can start maybe doing some other bits and bobs and having a look at the players because I think that will be a safety net."
