Shropshire cricketers urged to take part in survey

Shropshire cricket board is calling on recreational cricketers to have their say and help improve cricket in the county through taking part in the second annual National Cricket Playing Survey.

Last year more than 21,000 current and former players responded to the survey nationally – the first of its kind ever undertaken – and Shropshire Cricket Board is already acting on the comprehensive and wide-ranging feedback received.

Clubs and Leagues across the county are introducing new formats, rule changes, different start times, shorter travel distances to matches and greater opportunities for women, girls and people with a disability to play the game.

Head of Club Community Programmes for Shropshire Cricket Board Chris Dirkin said: "We had a great response from 300-plus cricketers in 2013 and would like to build on this to gain further insight into the current landscape of cricket in the county.

"We have already implemented some programmes which are running now such as the Broseley Bash T20 Midweek Cluster League, a Women's Club Hardball League and a Four County Disability T20 Festival as well as other programmes which are due to run from the autumn of 2014 as a result of the feedback from players in Shropshire."
