Joe Clarke sees cup dream end as England knocked out of under-19 World Cup
Oswestry wicketkeeper Joe Clarke admitted his 'massive disappointment' after England Under-19s went out of the World Cup at the semi-final stage to Pakistan.
But he added that the experience of playing in the tournament, in United Arab Emirates, was just the startt of great things for the talented 15-strong team.
England, who also included Shrewsbury's Ed Barnard in their team, were edged out by Pakistan by three wickets yesterday.
Clarke, who was removed for a duck but then took two catches, tweeted: "Massive disappointment that our World Cup journey is over, however this is the start of 15 amazingly talented lads careers!"
England posted 204-7 from their 50 overs with Barnard making 13 before being bowled by Kamran Ghulham and Karamat Ali dismissed Clarke without scoring.
Pakistan where then reduced to 142-7 in reply but recovered to book their final place in the final over of the game.
Saud Shakeel top-scored for the winners with 45 while skipper Will Rhodes was England's top batsman with a fine unbeaten 76.
And he said afterwards: "Obviously it's pretty heartbreaking to lose. I'm proud of the lads for what they've achieved."
England now face a third-place play-off on Friday against either Australia or South Africa.
