Shepherd salutes Shrewsbury Cricket Club's history makers
Shrewsbury Cricket Club manager Trevor Shepherd today hailed the teamwork of his all-conquering side after they completed an historic trophy treble.
Rob Foster's side claimed their fourth straight Graham Williamson Trophy yesterday to add to the Birmingham League Premier Division title and the Salop Leisure T20 Trophy.
And first-team manager Shepherd was full of praise for his players after they clinched their third title with a 32-run Duckworth Lewis win in a rain-affected Williamson Trophy final at home to Barnt Green.
"It has all been down to good teamwork," said Shepherd. "The lads have all worked really hard individually, but it's been a real team effort and they work even better together.
"We have a really solid dressing room and, added to that, there is a lot of talent in the team.
"We won the league by 90 points and that is a great achievement for all the players and the people at the club."
Shrewsbury defended the Williamson Trophy when they restricted Barnt Green to 154-8 in pursuit of a twice-revised Duckworth Lewis of 186 in 18 overs following a frustrating day of rain in Shropshire.
And that came just a day after Foster's side, who has sealed the league with three games to spare, set a new top-flight points record of 378.
