Bylet save their skins in the Premier play-offs
Bylet live to fight another season in the Flowfit Shropshire Premier League after a 14-shot play-off final victory over Hanwood.
That was the clear-cut outcome of events, after a 203-189 win on the green at Sinclair on Friday night.
But the dust has yet to settle on matters off it, with Tanners Shropshire League champions Hanwood unhappy with the make-up of Bylet's team.
The Premier wooden spoonists played Rob Steventon at No 8, the man who bowled for Shifnal in the Mid Shropshire League on Friday nights this year winning 21-6.
He played 21 games for Bylet in the Highley League in 2014 but only two in the Premier League.
Premier rules state that bowlers must have played in six league games to be eligible for the play-offs – unless management committee permission is received to select them.
Mick Harries, skipper of Bridgnorth-based Bylet, confirmed that was what he had done, saying: "I asked the league if Rob could play for us (in the play-off final).
"He played two Prem games, County Cup games and I think 21 games for us in the Highley League so I asked the league if he could play and I was told no problem, he could play for us.
"I feel like I'm being called a cheat and it's a shame this has started, because I thought the game was played in a good spirit between two good sides. I have a lot of respect for the Hanwood guys.
"As I said, as far as I'm concerned I've done nothing wrong."
Hanwood are understood to be writing a letter of protest to Premier League secretary Mark Burroughs this week, with their county star Wayne Phillips particularly outspoken in his comments on the situation.
Phillips was blown away 21-3 at No 1 by Rich Morris, as Bylet made a blistering start to lead by 29 chalks after the first four.
Tim Ealey, playing in his fifth play-off final, made it four wins in them with a 21-7 card and not even Hanwood's star signing Greg Smith could turn the tide.
Premier chief Burroughs said: "Mick Harries was involved in a close game with Mark Parsons and, when he was 17-15 down, the other Bylet cards were all down and the result could have gone either way.
"But Mick ran out and Hanwood could only close the deficit to 14 and will have to wait another year before they can rejoin the league."
