Shropshire are facing a South Yorkshire showdown

Shropshire set up a winner-take-all final group game against South Yorkshire after prevailing in their double header against Merseyside.

The county won both matches in their second Endsleigh Senior County Bowls Championship outing, after beating Cheshire in their curtain raiser last month.

Shropshire prevailed 219-192 in the away leg at Richmond Park, Wayne Rogers their biggest winner with a 21-6 victory over Liam McKeegan, while Colin Beaman beat John Hignett Jnr 21-6.

Back at Wrockwardine Wood, the county saw off their visitors 214-205 in a competitive affair, with Tom Roden and Spencer Clarke 21-10 winners over Mike Evans and James Whalley respectively.

It will come down to the next game against the Yorkshiremen on Sunday July 6 to decide who progresses to the semi-final.

President John Coxill said: "It was an excellent result for us, we have done well so far and it's in our hands for our next game now."
