Dan Dawson threatens Market Drayton changes after his side spurn chances again
Unhappy Market Drayton Town boss Dan Dawson threatened changes and demanded a reaction as his side spurned numerous chances once again.
The Gingerbread Men were beaten for the third time in four North West Counties First Division South fixtures this term after a wasteful performance at Foley Meir in Stoke.
Dawson's side were beaten 2-0 despite creating what the manager felt were numerous golden chances early on and then missing from barely a yard out at 1-0 down after the break.
Town host Ashville - who have lost twice in four games - to Greenfields on Saturday before an FA Vase first qualifying round tie at home to rivals Haughmond on August 23.
"We had three or four really good chances in the first 30 minutes from seven or eight yards out and missed the target or hit it straight at the keeper. We could've gone in three or 4-1 up," said Dawson, whose side are 15th.
"They had a bit of magic from Will Saxon with a great pass and then a good finish.
"I want to congratulate Foley. We're coming away very frustrated and it's getting a bit repetitive with the same old story.
Dawson's men were unable to build on the previous weekend's home victory over Stockport Georgians.
"The second half we pound the goal and then miss from a yard out, which is pretty unbelievable," he added. "Then they score a (second) goal the officials pretty much admit they should've ruled out.
"But that wouldn't have changed the game, we couldn't get the goal we needed anyway. I'm really frustrated. We looked for changes to help but they didn't except for Sid, who was brilliant
"There will be changes to the starting XI and bench. We can't keep rolling out the same side to not take chances. We're sick of saying it.
"There will be a response, that's for sure. We'll put a rocket in them before."
Dawson is optimistic he will see an improved performance next time out as Town will welcome the return of Dave Ablewhite, Oliver Jones, Joel Reece and Max Raine to contention against Wallasey visitors Ashville.
