The Baggies, under both Carlos Corberan and Tony Mowbray have been in and around the play-off picture for the majority of the campaign, having very temporarily occupied top spot following a blistering early season run.
Albion slipped out of the top six briefly, but have been fluctuating between fifth place and sixth over recent months.
This season's race for the play-offs is set to be one of the most intriguing for some time, with just nine points separating ten teams from fifth placed Coventry City down Queens Park Rangers in 14th.
Albion are currently in fifth, with 52 points from their 35 games played. Eleven games remain for Albion with 33 points up for grabs, so how many more points would Mowbray's men need to secure a play-off spot?
Jonny Drury has crunched the numbers and looked back at the last ten Championship campaigns, to see what could be required.
The hunt for the play-offs always tends to go down to the wire and it will be no different this season - and will no doubt intensify with the number of sides battling it out for the last two spots.
Although there is no magic number when it comes to getting into the top six, there are a few indicators we have seen in recent years that clubs can aim for in the hope of securing a spot.
Over the last ten seasons in the Championship, a points total in the low to mid 70s tends to get you over the line.
Last year for example, saw Norwich City claim the final spot with 73 points and that sort of points total more often than not will get you into the play-off picture.
In 2021/22, it was similar for Luton who finished sixth with 75, while in and 2017/18 and 2018/19, Derby finished sixth on both occasions with 74 points and then 75 points.
Sheffield Wednesday also finished sixth in 2015/16 with 74 points.
That tends to be around the total required, but like with everything there are outliers.
Two seasons ago, in the 2022/23 campaign, Sunderland snuck into the play-off spots with 69 points, in 2020/21, Brentford required 77 points to get in, and in 2016/17, Fulham needed to hit the 80 mark to take the final spot.
So there are anomalies across the ten years, but on average, taking into account the final tables across the last decade, 74.5 points secures a top six position.
What would Albion require?
To hit that mark, Albion would need 22 points from their remaining 11 games to get to that position.
Mowbray said on Saturday that Albion need to win all their home games. They need to do that and achieve a bit extra on the road.
Winning their home games would see them gather 18 points, but that could be a tall order, especially with a couple of play-off rivals coming to The Hawthorns.
So they are going to have to pick up points on the road, so overall you are arguably looking at six or seven wins from the last eleven games, coupled with a few draws, to get over the line.
