Shropshire judoka Kelly Edwards continued her return from concussion with bronze at the Tallinn European Open.

The -52kg judoka had to give up her hopes of qualifying for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games due to concussion and, after a long-term absence, returned to competition with a bronze at the 2016 Heidelberg European Cup last month.

However, Tallinn was her first world ranking event since returning. A lung-bursting opening contest with Anja Lunding (Denmark) was eventually finished three minutes and 22 seconds into golden score as Edwards rolled her opponent for waza-ari.

The Telford judoka just missed out in the semi-finals to Germany's Ines Beischmidt on shidos but she came back well to win an exciting bronze medal contest with Madelene Rubinstein (Norway).

After going behind by waza-ari, Edwards levelled the score with a lovely bit of judo before forcing her opponent to tap out on the ground.

Edwards will next be in action at the Zagreb Grand Prix from September 23 to 25.
