Tulloch is in world class-company on the programme, with the likes of Jade Jones, who won gold at the Olympic Games in 2012 in London in taekwondo, one of the first recipients of an Academy of Sport bursary back in 2010.

The 16-year-old has already enjoyed international recognition by competing at the European Championships for Ponies.

She's twice won the British Pony Championships, experienced a once in a lifetime opportunity as he attended the world famous Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials.

It's there he got to rub shoulders with 2003 rugby world cup winner and Land Rover ambassador Jason Robinson.

Just 276 athletes have been awarded with an Academy bursary since 2010, with 35 per cent of progressing to professional or world-class funding level.

It demonstrates the huge potential of Shrewsbury School's Tulloch in the years ahead.

He said: "The support that Jaguar Land Rover Academy of Sport are giving me is helping me so much with the finance for my training.

"Also the finance for supporting the horses themselves, being able to go to events, staying at all the venues, travelling overseas, there are so many things that they help me do.

"The mentoring is also a great opportunity because then you get to meet people who have have got there. You can see what career paths they have taken."

This year the academy has provided bursaries to 50 young able-bodied and disabled athletes, who are recognised as being top of their game.

That's as well as offering financial support, a mentoring and education programme provides these rising stars with the support they need to help them on their road to success.

And Robinson, who spent time with the athletes at the famous Burghley event, is convinced Tulloch has a hugely exciting future ahead of him.

"I was young once and I had all these hopes and dreams and it's just great that we can give them support and just help them to achieve their potential.

"It gives everyone else confidence that actually it does work. We are seeing some of these young people turn into some of the best athletes that the country's got.

"I think it's fantastic for these young people and give it three, four or five years and I'm sure we will be watching them on TV."

Jaguar Land Rover Academy of Sport star Thomas Tulloch was invited to Land Rover Burghley Horse Trails event to meet with Jason Robinson for an exclusive mentoring Q&A.
