Mickie makes all the running at Newbury
In-form Ludlow trainer Henry Daly was put in a quandary by Mickie after her battling success over hurdles at Newbury.
The grey, owned by The Ludlow Partnership, triumphed in the qualifier for the Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle yesterday.
Mickie went well in staying novice hurdles last season, but this was a considerable improvement on her two previous achievements.
Pateese and Twelve Roses were among those waiting to take over from long-time leader Western Warhorse, while Jake Greenall was some way off the pace, but gradually the 9-1 chance
Mickie made progress on the long run-in and passed the line a length and a half in front
"I don't know what we do with her now," said Downton Hall handler Daly. "There's the final, but I might send her chasing before that."
