Market Drayton boss Greg Clowes signs ex- Stoke City midfielder Mike Clarkson
Market Drayton manager Greg Clowes has signed former Stoke City midfielder Mike Clarkson ahead of tomorrow's trip to Rainworth Miners Welfare (3pm).
Clarkson was released by the Premier League Potters in the summer and his pedigree has impressed the Drayton boss who completed the signing yesterday.
Clarkson will go straight into the squad for tomorrow's match. Clowes said: "He was a first year pro with Stoke City last year so he obviously has some quality.
"We have taken a look with him in training, and we've taken him on board."
Clowes will take his side to Rainworth aiming for a third successive win in Evo-Stik First Division South, having defeated Bedworth and Lincoln United in his first two games in charge at Greenfields. But with Drayton still 19th in the 22-team table he is not getting carried away with the start he has had.
Clowes said: "It was great to enjoy a couple of victories and get people smiling, but the fact remains that we are in a very, very dangerous position as a club at the wrong end of the table.
"The lads have done well. We've built a platform we can work from, but we've got to remember it's nothing more than that; a platform, still a starting point. We've a long way to go but we can get there if we don't get carried away, take every game as comes and fight for every point."
Stand-in central defender Sean Jones is an injury doubt with a hamstring pull.
