Telford Tigers have completed their fourth import signing with a deal for 26-year-old Czech defenceman Michal Pavlu.

An experienced defenceman 6'1" Pavlu joins Tigers having played over 50 games in the Czech Extraliga and 216 games in the Czech 2 league, posting 37 goals and 55 assists in the second tier of Czech ice hockey.

Last season Pavlu iced for Most HC on loan from Extraliga club Bili Tygri Liberec, scoring two goals, with 18 assists and 28 penalty minutes.

Tigers player-coach Tom Watkins was happy to have tied up an agreement with the player, saying: "Michal is a quick mobile offensive right handed defenceman, a good skater who can build play from the back.

"He will give us balance on the power play, fits the way we want to play and team ethic while adding experience to the roster. He arrives on Friday, ready for the start of our pre-season training camp with the rest of the guys."

Pavlu said "I had spoken to Jaroslav Kruzik about Tigers and he was very positive about the club and I had good discussions with Tom as well, so I'm looking forward to meeting the rest of the team and starting preseason, working hard and pushing for the play-offs this season."

Tigers, who this week publicised a new major title sponsorship deal with Red Touch Media are set to make a further player signing announcement this week as the new season approaches.

*Tickets are still available for an 'Evening with Dave Simms' being held at The Park Inn, Telford on Friday September 13, priced at £10 per person.
