New assistant coach Tom Watkins will bring his GB Under-20s side to Shropshire for a warm-up game against Telford Tigers, ahead of the national team's World Championship campaign in Germany.

The fixture is at Telford Ice Rink on Thursday, November 24 (8pm) with all tickets costing £5.

The Under-20s travel to Bavaria in December, to compete in the Division I Group A competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, best known as the venue of the 1936 Winter Olympics, where Great Britain took their only gold medal for ice hockey.

Watkins said: "I'm really excited about the game - it will be good for us to face completely different opposition. It is likely we will have a few different players with us, depending on GB selections from our own squad."

The GB junior teams have been under particular scrutiny this summer, as the International Ice Hockey Federation were persuaded to allow rock star Rod Stewart's son Liam to be eligible for GB selection, despite having only played hockey in the US previously.
