The New Saints have snapped up a second summer signing by capturing former Wales under-21 international Simon Spender.

Just 24 hours after landing Stafford Rangers defender Jermaine Johnson, the Welsh Premier runners-up have now added ex-Wrexham right back Spender ahead of pre-season which starts in just 11 days time.

"Spender, 25, rejected a new contract with his current club Barrow, and also turned down a possible move to Airbus UK to return to full-time football.

"TNS have been the best side in Wales over the past 10 years and, having discussed the club's plans for the future, I am sure that success will continue," he said after putting pen to paper at Park Hall.

The arrival of Spender, who can also operate in the centre of defence, marks the departure of Danny Holmes, who has not been offered terms for next season. TNS start pre-season on Monday, May 23.
