Striker Kris Bright has admitted he is likely to leave English football after agreeing to end his stint at Shrewsbury Town by mutual consent.

New Zealand forward Bright and Town boss Graham Turner reached an agreement yesterday to conclude the 24-year-old's 18-month stint at Greenhous Meadow which has been blighted by recent injuries.

Bright, who was on standby for New Zealand's World Cup squad in the summer, was signed by former boss Paul Simpson in August 2009 after his performance in a pre-season friendly at Tranmere.

But he has failed to hit the heights in English football, starting just four Shrewsbury games - he also appeared as a sub 26 times - and scoring only twice.

Bright is now seeking pastures new and may look outside of England for his next clubs after previously playing in his homeland as well as Holland and Greece.

"I can't play for anyone until January 1 but there has been a bit of interest," he added.

"I will see what comes up and there could be offers in England but overseas could be the best option for me. We will see."

Despite struggling to make an impact at Shrewsbury, Bright insists he has enjoyed his time in Shropshire.

"In terms of being happy coming in every day, the training and the facilities, Shrewsbury has been the best club I have been at," said Bright.

"But I haven't played games consistently for 18 months and I need to be doing that.

"It hasn't really worked out for me.

"I was going to start the first game of the first season (against Macclesfield) but my international clearance didn't come through in time and Dave Hibbert scored a hat-trick.

"That left me waiting for a few weeks and it hasn't really happened since then.

"I move on now and wish Shrewsbury well."

The arrival of Matt Harrold and scoring form of Jake Robinson have left Bright further down the pecking order this season, while the Kiwi has also suffered with injuries.

Bright's last appearance came as a substitute in the 3-1 victory over Northampton on September 18 at the Greenhous Meadow.
