In a frantic end to end game, Telford managed to get the goal that the best move of the game deserved. A super spot from James Lawrie finding Proudlock in acres of space, on the left flank, and he managed to pick out the late run into the box of Phil Trainer to power home his header past the stranded Jan Budtz in the Stalybridge goal.
Once again the AFC Telford United rear guard, this time without the impressive Liam Murray, were able to grind out the clean sheet, resulting in maximum points. Despite Stalybridge posing us problems, Youngy had very few shots he needed to field, and I am sure will be pleased with the workmanlike effort of the his back four — and the protection they were afforded by Rodgers and Trainer, who both looked back to their best, particularly in the second half.
Newton settled back in straight away, and immediately gave more balance to the side, allowing Killock the opportunity to play his natural game at centre half. Whitehead, again put in a big shift — and it just goes to show the confidence running through the side defensively at present, that slight changes are not upsetting the apple cart and we are really performing as a unit.
We absorbed a lot of pressure in the second half, but still managed to test the opposition keeper on several occasions to send the Bucks' fans home happy. Somebody text me when the fixtures came out, and said October could be a make or break month, well we are still unbeaten in the league, November is now looking pretty tasty!
Let's just hope our injuries in key areas don't start to bite!
