Joleon Lescott today left the door open for a shock return to Wolves if he is frozen out at Manchester City.

The defender, reportedly unhappy after being dropped for the 3-0 defeat to Arsenal last weekend, revealed he would seriously consider a comeback should he have to quit Eastlands.

He could face Wolves when City travel to Molineux tomorrow but has found chances limited this season and has made just five Premier League appearances.

And with Kolo Toure and Vincent Kompany ahead of him Lescott admitted he would be keen on a Molineux return if he failed to net a regular City place.

"If the situation was right I'd always come back," said Lescott, who made 235 appearances for Wolves before a £5m switch to Everton in 2006.

"Wolves have been a massive part of my life. I plied my trade there and I've got a lot of very close friends behind the scenes and if the opportunity was there I'd definitely come back.

"I'm a City player and I'm fully focused on them but if the situation changed then I'd love to play for Wolves, I'd always love to play for Wolves."

Team-mate Roque Santa Cruz, a rumoured Villa target, has already voiced his desire to leave amid growing unrest under boss Roberto Mancini.

The Italian has had furious bust-ups with Carlos Tevez and Emmanuel Adebayor but Lescott insisted he was content under Mancini, despite struggling since his £22m move from Everton last year.

"If I don't play throughout the season then I'll have to address it but at this moment in time I'm happy," said the 28-year-old.
