AFC Telford United fans will be the ones who ate all the pies when the club stages an appetising curtain-raiser to Saturday's home game.

The Bucks and their culinary suppliers are trying to improve the match day pies on offer to supporters and so will host a tasting session before the kick-off against Worcester City at the weekend.

Pie fanatics are being invited to go along to the Learning Centre bar at the ground from noon and sample a few of the new pastry offerings being considered and once they have tried them, to pick their favourites.

The pies in the race for the championship on Saturday will be steak and stilton, chicken dinner, chilli pie, lamb with mint and potato, balti, chicken and mushroom, and Angus steak and ale.

The club's commercial manager Anton Gunter said: "Midland Chilled Foods are working with the club on improving the match day pies but the club wants the fans' opinion before deciding."

Mr Gunter added: "When we change things in the stadium there are always murmurings of discontent from some quarters.

"We are going to change the pies so hopefully, by giving supporters the chance to say what they think of the options, we can get the right pies to sell in our snack bars.

"That way they will be commercially viable and the fans are happy so everyone wins."

He said it was a unique opportunity for fans to have a say in a range of new pies the club was considering stocking.
